Varsity Taiohi Junior Rugby

Nau mai, haere mai ki Varsity Taiohi Rugby,

Varsity Taiohi caters for all young children (from 2-13 years of age) who want to be introduced to rugby in a safe and friendly environment. We are the junior division that operates through the Waikato University Rugby Football Club. We train and have home games at the University grounds.

All players must be officially weighed and registered. This involves completing a NZRFU registration form (with parent signature), completing a player id sheet which is signed by an official Weigh-in Convener (on sighting proof of age) and having each player weighed.  The Varsity Taiohi club weigh-in will be held on Sunday the 8th of March.

Fees for the season are $15 per player which covers affiliation and 10 aside tournament, mouth guards, socks (to keep) and playing uniforms (to be returned). Parents are also asked to provide one set of drinks for the children on a Saturday morning.

Games begin Saturday the 2nd of May,the first Saturday after the school holidays. The 10 aside tournament will be on the 17th of May at Hopuhopu.

Practices will begin after the muster and generally will be on a Thursday afternoon from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. If the fields are wet then practice will be cancelled for the younger grades. But older grades will still train unless there is torrential rain. Coaches can make the call at the time.
